ORMISTON James Ormiston Jr., age 61 of Stratford, beloved husband of Karen Toplansky Ormiston and loving father of Cameron Ormiston, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at St. Vincent Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Scranton, Pa. to the late James and Annie Ormiston, he was raised in Bridgeport and was a graduate of Central High School. Jim was a United States Marine Corps veteran and served during the Vietnam War where he was a member of the USMC Drum Corps. He was most recently employed as a subcontractor for Home Depot. Jim played various musical instruments and was a member of many local drum corps including the Park City Pride Drum Corps, Scarlet Knights Drum Corps and the Bridgeport Buccaneers Drum Corps. Proud of his Scottish heritage, Jim also loved to play the bagpipes and was a member of the Shriner's Highland Pipe Band. He was a member of St. John Lodge #8 A.F.A.M. and the Pyramid Shriner's Temple, Milford and the Raymond T. Goldbach VFW Post 9540. In addition to his wife and son, survivors include one brother, Ronald Ormiston; mother-in-law, Florence E. Toplansky; sister-in-law, Janet Toplansky; brother-in-law, Michael Toplansky; and several cousins in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.
