Bruce Gordon, member of Park City Pride, passed away on December 19, 2005. He was a former member of St. Raphael's Buccaneers and the Ct Hurricanes. Bruce was thrilled to be a part of our reformation back into the drum corps world and enjoyed the times he spent with us, and the many conversations, he had a wealth of information about drum corp. He will always be remembered.
Even without the ability to see and to march, Bruce Gordon enjoyed the Park City Pride reunion more than any of us who could. His enthusiasm, despite his pain and limitations, was an inspiration to me and to others throughout the reunion. He was a Buccaneer, a Hurricane, an athlete, a dad and, of course, a rascal. In the last year of his life he was looking forward to receiving a new kidney and on adapting to his new computerized prosthetic leg. Dreams of seeing again were even part of the banter. He knew that would take some major technological breakthrough to make it happen, but was willing to be part of any research program available that might offer even the slightest hope. He inspired me to be more humble, to do more and try to gab about it less, and to be more thankful for the gifts of relative health and comfort we often take for granted. --- Carl Rodia
A quick story about BRUCE GORDON -a few years back when I was marching with the CT Alumni, the corps had a summer picnic on some lake in upstate CT. The cost was that the Alumni had to march a four block parade and end up on the beach. Bruce said how he would love to march one last time but could not as he could no longer see. So, with Lenny Roberto on one side and me on the other, we led Bruce through the route and, at the end, we told him that if he complained about our pushing and shoving that we would leave him on the beach. He laughed for ten minutes and then we left him there. God bless Judy! She went and rescued him. Bruce Gordon - A good friend -- A fellow Hurricane. We will meet and march again one day. --- Moose
